From Greece Jefferson comments on his well-being

GREECE, 18/08/2004. The Champion is already training in Athens, two workouts a day, with the goal of achieving his highest level days before the competition: With him are Rolando Saquipay and Xavier Moreno, with whom he works out. Respect to adjusting to the heat and time change, he stated he has overcome that difficulty. During these final days he will try to isolate himself completely before his event in order to avoid inconveniences that would affect his concentration.

There is no doubt about the responsibility with which the athlete is assuming his role of representing his country, which has made of him a role model for a nation avid for victory, struggle, love-of-country, and reasons to succeed and escape underdevelopment, that motivation that sport can provide through its representatives.

The temperatures these days have fluctuated between 30 and 32 degrees centigrade with humidities of 60 to 70%. Similar conditions are expected the day of the 20 km walk. This will not, however, hinder Jeff from seeking his objective, excellence, which he hopes to achieve in these Olympic Games, where it all began.

Until now the following athletes have competed: Carmen Malo (shooting), Nicolás Lapentti (tennis), Diana Maza (judo), and Alexandra Escobar (weight lifting). Of these athletes, only Alexandra Escobar achieved a great performance, finishing seventh in the world, where the favorites were the Chinese competitors. There are still 13 athletes waiting to compete in this Olympic event, and Ecuador is hopeful of what our world figures can do in their different competitions.
