Jeff goes over the 20 km route in Athens

GREECE, 19/08/2004. The Ecuadorian race walking team went over the circuit where the 20 km event will be held Friday morning in Athens. In addition to Jeff, Moreno, Saquipay and Chango were also there. The athletes did a light workout at places on the circuit where they were allowed to do so, while the rest of the circuit they covered carrying a hand-held computer to analyze any special detail for the day of the competition.

"This is part of the complete job of an Olympic cycle. We don't want any detail to escape us; no one can fail or, on the contrary, we will not achieve our objective," said the Ecuadorian race walker, for whom the circuit is in the best condition, "It’s possible that this route with pronounced grades will be a disaster for the other competitors, however, for me it is ideal, since generally these are the conditions I train under, so I am satisfied with this race layout." In the following hours the champion will undergo a therapy of total relaxation, moments before the competition, which will also aid recovery for the 50 km event next Friday 27.

Luis Chocho and Marco Chango, who were authorized to carry out these functions, will be in charge of the watering station, while the Ecuadorian press, officials and athletes will be ready to root for the entire Ecuadorian race walking team. "We are confident in the possibilities of the team, and without a doubt the story of 1996 will be surpassed at Athens 2004," expressed Marco Chango, Jefferson's doctor.
