The IAAF announces the world track and field celebration in Monaco and Jefferson is invited. 
ECUADOR, 16/09/2004. The International Track and Field Federation will hold a new edition of the World Track and Field Gala, where the best athletes of the planet will be feted and recognized in a great celebration, with television coverage all over Europe and in the United States.
Each year the curtain falls on the world track and field calendar and its different events which are: sprints, marathon, race walking, long jump, high jump, hurdles and others. There are notable winners in each of these specialties; for example, in the golden world league the Dominican Félix Sánchez is one of the candidates to win the million-dollar prize. In addition there are 10 candidates to be elected the best track and field athlete in the world, according to the results obtained, and the winner will be announced the 19th of September, the night of the Track and Field Gala.
With respect to race walking, this year the world ranking was initiated, in which race walkers of the entire world compete and are given a certain number of points in their competitions that are considered by the IAAF. At the end of the season the points are added and the winner is determined, who is recognized as the best race walker of the year in the world.
In this category Jeff obtained second place on the planet, surpassed by the Pole, Robert Korseniowski, who thanks to his gold medal in Athens, was able to surpass our countryman.
Also, there is the World Race Walking Challenge, that consists of a series of competitions officially designated for this tournament (this year there were six), in which the competitors obtain points, according to their placings in the different competitions (10 points for first). Their three best participations are averaged and an economic prize is given to the best, according to his final place ($3,000 for first place).
Jeff leaves this Thursday on his way to this world athletic celebration in Monaco, where, without a doubt, he will be one of the attractions among those present.
