Ecuadorian Team Prepares for the Beginning of the Challenge in Mexico 
ECUADOR, 15/03/2005. The Ecuadorian race walking team (current world vice champion) is preparing participate in the first competition of International Amateur Athletic Federation Challenge to be held in the city of Tijuana, Mexico, where Jefferson will once again compete in an official event, following his fourth place in the Olympics Games at Athens, Greece in 2004. representing Ecuador in this event will be Andrés Chocho, Jefferson Pérez, Segundo Peñafiel and Rolando Saquipay, the athletes who achieved the Team Vice Championship at the end of last year season in Naumburg, Germany, in 2004.
The Challenge this year is composed of six events in America, Europe and Asia in which the athletes will accumulate points according to their placings. The points of the three best results of each athlete will be totaled at the end of the season to determine the winner of the Challenge, who will receive an economic prize of $ 30,000. it should be pointed out that Jeff occupied second place at the end of the preceding season, surpassed by his Polish friend, Robert Korseniowski (currently retired).
