LATEST NEWS!!!!!! Leg Injury Leaves Jeff Out of the Mexico Grand Prix

ECUADOR, 18/03/2005. A surprising and lamentable leg injury has left Ecuador's best race walker on the sidelines for the first event of the Challenge to be held in Mexico. While doing a routine afternoon training session last week, Jeff suffered an injury in the femur region caused by the poor condition of the training track as a result of the torrential winter rains that have hit southern Ecuador.

He immediately suspended training to undergo a rehabilitation phase in the hope of recovering for the Mexico trip, however, this was not possible due to the seriousness of the contusion.

Now he can only wait for this total recovery in order to be in top condition for the next event of this Challenge in the city of Cixi, China, next April 20th.

With respect to Rolando Saquipay, this athlete is experiencing heavy congestion from a viral cold from which he has not yet recovered; nevertheless, the medical team will determine whether or not he is in optimum condition to travel to Mexico. Otherwise he will make his 2005 debut at Cixi, China.

Our country will be represented in the Aztec competition by Andrés Chocho and Fausto Quinde, athletes in great condition who most certainly will demonstrate their ability and dedication on the Mexican race course.
