Hugo Chila and Byron Piedra swept the medals at the V Olympic Festival 
ECUADOR, 15/03/2007. The two athletes competed Saturday, and Byron Piedra showed his elite status by winning the 1500 meters with a time of 3:56.98. Meanwhile Hugo Chila took first in the long jump with a mark of 7.43 meters and second in the 100 meters in 10.37 closely behind the winner. Sunday morning Chila arrived at the track determined to defend his crown in the triple jump, which he did easily with a mark of 15.70 meters, just what he and his coach were aiming for. After Chila’s victory it was Byron Piedra’s turn, and in the 5000 meter event he won categorically in a time of 14:46.40.
Thus the two athletes showed they are ready for their respective international tours that begin in May with the South American Grand Prix in Brazil.
