ECUADOR ON THE WAY TO OSAKA. PART 2
JAPAN, 21/08/2007. EFFORT, COURAGE, DECISION . . . A DREAM, A GOAL, AN INSPIRATION.
The Ecuadorian athletes Rolando Saquipay and Jefferson Perez left to Japan with the firm decision of giving their best performance in the World Track and Field Championship to take place in Osaka, Japan, from August 25 to September 2. The athletes traveled with their whole working team from the small and welcoming town of Saluzzo, Italy, where they had been for approximately 30 days in a championship before this event.
Between happiness and nostalgia, the athletes said goodbye to the members of the Track Foundation, whom they thanked and promised to give their maximum effort to reciprocate for all the logistical and human support received during their stay.
The Ecuadorian delegation arrived in Osaka this Tuesday in the morning, and went directly to the hotel Riga Royal which was designated by the organization for their stay. Once at location they rested for a couple hours to later in the afternoon conduct a light loosening session. It is estimated that by Thursday the athletes will be able to do a reconnaissance of the site of the competition.
The athletes will join the rest of the Ecuadorian team already in Osaka since last weekend. The 20-km march will take place on Sunday, August 26 at 8:00 a.m. local time. It can be viewed in Ecuador on Saturday, August 25 at 18:00 due to the time differences between Japan and Ecuador.
