Historic Seventh Golden Condor for Jefferson Perez 
ECUADOR, 25/12/2007. In a sports career encompassing almost 20 years, Jefferson has broken all the existing records in the 20k race walk. Not satisfied with that, however, he has begun to break records off the course, this time in awards and honors from Ecuador and the world.
The Fox Network recently presented him with an award for his brilliant sports career, and a few days later Prensa Latina of Cuba named him the Best Sportsman of Latin America and the Caribbean of 2007. Currently the BBC of London is holding a poll open to the public to elect the Best Sportsman of IberoAmerican, in which Jefferson is in the lead with 50 thousand votes received to date by the European network.
In Ecuador the awards are making an impact as well. Estadio Sports magazine named him Best Sportsman of the Year 2007, thus garnering his seventh “Golden Condor” trophy which he has won in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007.Additionally Jeff received an extra Condor award in 2006 in recognition of his great career, making this his eighth Condor award. This makes him the most decorated sportsman by Estadio sports magazine.
The presentation of the Golden Condor award took place in an extraordinary ceremony held in the city of Guayaquil with the best sportsmen and women of the country in different categories in attendance, as well as the principal executives of the magazine and national political figures.
Jefferson has expressed his enormous satisfaction for the recognition he has received, saying that he receives it on behalf his country, since recognition for a nation of hard-working, honest and enterprising people.
In day past Graficos Nacionales (Expresso and Extra Newspapers) also named him the Best Sportsman of 2007. Next Thursday he will be once again feted, this time by El Universo newspaper at the traditional Banquet of Champions, as the Best Sportsman of the Year, an honor he will receive for the tenth time (1992, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007).
